Mike grew up in Clemmons, a suburb of Winston-Salem, NC and attended West Forsyth High School. In 2006, he moved to Raleigh and attended NC State University where he earned his Bachelor degree in Business Finance with a minor in Economics. Mike had always had an interest in finance from a young age; starting with the 8 year old decision to open a bank account instead of spending all his saved money on a transformer toy. His interest in financial planning only grew after watching several financial missteps with family members, and noticing financial topics were not often discussed in school.
Upon graduation at NC State in 2010, Mike held a sales assistant role supporting 3 top brokers at Raymond James Financial. He decided in 2013 to transition from the assistant to advisor role and joined Equitable Advisors in 2013. From there, he began his practice helping families with the often complex topics of financial planning. With a focus on retirement, wealth management and protection strategies; Mike has been recognized as a top advisor numerous times, while being a key contributor in a top 10 national team ranking. This recognition was based on client satisfaction, size, and quality of work.
In 2017, Mike explored a greater passion of teaching others how to create a successful practice based on helping local families achieve their financial goals. He became a Regional Vice President in 2018 and helped establish Oakbridge later that same year. Subsequently, after 16 months of studying, Mike was designated a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in April 2020, known as the standard of excellence in financial planning throughout the industry.
Mike married his wonderful wife, Kate in May 2018 and they welcomed their first child, Emelia, in September 2021. Mike enjoys traveling, sports and being active outdoors. He has many more interests, but enjoys his relationships with family, friends and clients above all else.
